If you are in the New Jersey or Philadelphia area, you should consider visiting the Battleship New Jersey.   You will definitely get your steps in as you follow 4 distinct tour paths throughout the ship as you learn about how the crew lived and the jobs they had, see how the officers lived, the command and control centers for the ship and see the various armaments from the large guns to smaller armaments.  

You'll learn about how diesel was used to generate steam which basically powered every system on board.    The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about this ship, relaying facts as if they were part of her crew.

 

After your done visiting, head into Philadelphia to get a bite to eat at many of the local establishments.
